I really want to start a career care work, but I have no qualifications/ I'd like to gain as much experience as possible, working either with care teams, or in residential homes, so that in a few years time I can apply to be a full time care worker
About me:
I have worked as a customer service manager with Marks and Spencer’s for five and a half years.
My day to day role is based solely on customers and their experience once they are inside my store. I manage a team of thirty customer assistants, ranging in experience, across four departments. Working in retail has made me realise I am people person. I enjoy being able to make a change to someone’s day, maybe even their week, by doing what I can to help them. Whether it is a pleasant customer or a difficult one, I treat everyone equally. I really enjoy the challenge of changing any negative opinions to make sure that when my customers leave, they are feeling positive, happy and glad they came to the store. I have decided I need to explore the idea of a career in care work, because the people side of my role is what I enjoy the most. I currently am training to be a volunteer with the Coventry City Council Routeforward project. I thoroughly enjoying the work and this has re-enforced my decision to change my career. I am aware I have no formal training in being a carer. However, after reading up on various care worker roles I know this is the right career for me. I am looking for a full time training care worker job that will fulfil me while allowing me to make a difference to people’s lives. I want to be the one that can connect with residents, build relationships with them, and make them smile. I am willing to undertake any training necessary to facilitate a career in care work. I am enthusiastic, dedicated and hard working and I just need the opportunity for me to show what I can do. Although I don’t drive, I am happy to either walk or use public transport to get to work within the city from where I live in Earsldon, Coventry. Ref 28

I am currently unemployed. I have worked as a care assistant ( supporting elderly)and residential social worker with learning difficultes. I have 10 years experience in care. I have my NVQ 2 in Care and would like to work towards my 3. I have had a clinical experience for 3 years as a nursing assistant/nursing aide. Currently I am still working at the same position. I am more focused on assisting paediatric and geriatric patients. I am currently working as a Nursing Assistant or Nursing Aide.
I have been working in a hospital for 3 years. I am assisting elderly patients with Alzheimer’s disease, MI patients, CVA patients and other common disabilities of an elderly.
